Current Development: Compared to February, the month of March couldn't have played out much worse. The previous month the team posted a .863 winning percentage, this month finished with a losing record of 4-6-2 ( .416% ). Although this has been a tough month the RedWings are still fortunate, they've been able to hold on to the 3rd seed in the West, by virtue of leading the Norris division.

The playoff race is really starting to heat up, as the team is being challenged by the Nashville Predators, for the Norris Division. As it stands after today's action the RedWings hold a mere 4 point lead, as both teams have played 77 games. By no means do the RedWings feel secure in their control of the Norris, but their magic number they are watching is 3, any combination of 3 RedWing wins or 3 Predators losses, will secure the teams 3rd Norris Division Championship.

No big suprise here, but again Pavel Datsyuk would be named as the team offensive player of the month, with 8-5-13, and John Leclair a close 2nd, 2-10-12. Fortunately the team doesn't suffer from any big injuries at this point, although Evgeni Nabokov has started in all games prior to today, so coach Tippett realized this was a problem and had opted to give Mike Dunham a shot at getting some time in, and Mike took full advantage of this by posting his 3rd win in his last 4 starts.

The team has only 5 games left in the Regular season, next up will be the Edmonton Oilers, after that the remaining 4 games will be against teams that have already been eliminated, so the RedWings will be hoping they don't play the role of spoiler.
