Month: March BOS         BOS Season: 3

Team Name: Boston Bruins

Most Recent Acquisitions: Doug Weight, Marek Malik, Jiri Slegr, Drake Berehowsky

Players on Trade Block: Trading Deadline has passed, looking forward to upcoming Free Agency

Current Developments:

The Bruins were surpringly active at the trade deadline. They shipped out fan favorites Joe Nieuwendyk and Scott Niedermeyer and acquired Dought Weight, Marek Malik,J Jiri Slegr and a 2nd rounder from Ottawa. The Bruins also added Drake Berehowsky who was waived by the Flames. The Bruins pick up one of the better (and still improving) defensive defensemen in the league. They also pick up a truly bonifide #2C /#1 LW in Doug Weight.

The team is still gelling since the shake-up to the team, but they have done better. The Bruins PP unit is still ranked 2nd in the league at 16.21% and the Bruins PK unit has continued to improve and now is killing penalties at an 85.52% clip.

Roman Cechmanek, despite a horrid game against the Predators, is the #3 goalie in the league with a 2.39 GAA, a .907 sv%, and 6 shut-outs. Cechmanek should eclipse the 30 win plateau for the 1st time in his career.

The Bruins are looking to close out the season on an upswing. They currently sit 7th in the Prince of Wales conference and have a 2 point lead on both the Capitals and the Maple Leafs. However the Bruins have 1 game and 2 games in hand respectively. The Bruins are 4 points behind the Lightning with 1 game in hand.

The Bruins have 7 games left. 4 games away (Montreal x2, Philadelphia and Winnipeg) and 3 in the Garden (Minnesota, Chicago and the Stars). None of these games are a gimmee and all of them will be tough. Even against the lowly Winnipege Jets, who were very active at the deadline and acquired a good deal of young veteran talent at the trade deadline. Montreal and Philadelphia will be especially important. The Bruins need to finish out the season strong, or they will be on the outside, looking in, come play-off time.
