Month: March ATL         ATL Season: 3

Team: Atlanta Thrashers

Most Recent Deal:
To Islanders: SJ 4 Rnd 4
To Thrashers: Mike Keane

Players on Block: N/A

Current Development:

Despite a Thrashing in the last game of the month in front of 8,700 strong at the Meadowlands, the Thrashers still managed to claim a playoff spot with a loss by the Capitals as well. I am not sure what is more bothersome, losing 7-3 in a game we had to have against cellar-dwellar New Jersey, or doing it in front of only 8700 fans. Plus we all know the 8,700 represents sold seats, with the actual attendance being marked around the 5,000 mark. Could there be a franchise move in the works in New Jersey?

At the completion of the game today, Dany Heatley was awarded a player of the month recognition for his work. Heatley dented the twine 6 times, helped 12 others, and was a +11 in 18 games of qualification. When reached for comment, Heatley mentioned only he'd like to thank his sponsors Colgate, and Ferrari.

The Thrashers have 5 games left in the season against NYR, Ott, Col, Fla, and Que where if the Thrashers gain a minimum of seven points then they will claim the Stastney division title and be guaranteed a top-3 POW seed. Hopefully the Thrashers will have the opportunity to dress the goon squad of Dale Purinton, Wade Belak and friends against the Nordiques in the final game. The Thrashers are rumoured to be wanting to avenge a brutal hit from behind on Timonen by Dainius Zubrus in a game on March 24. Zubrus was awarded a minor, and a game misconduct. Timonen would go on to miss that game and three more, and is a game time decision for the NYR game.

See you in the playoffs,
