From the very first drop of the puck, it was clear Nashville came to play. Rookie sensation Logan Cooley got things rolling just past the seven-minute mark with his seventh of the season, thanks to a slick feed from Gustav Nyquist. And once the gates opened, the goals came pouring in.
Eetu Luostarinen celebrated his first goal as a Predator—and then added another just four minutes later! Not to be outdone, Josh Norris sniped his ninth of the year in a first-period blitz that saw Nashville jump out to a commanding 4-0 lead. The Predators’ bench was buzzing, the chemistry was electric, and the joy was palpable.
Los Angeles, meanwhile, struggled to keep up and spent much of the night on the penalty kill, thanks in large part to a spirited night from Mathew Dumba, who racked up 13 penalty minutes. The Predators capitalized, scoring three power play goals on eight chances and keeping the pressure on from all angles.
The fun continued in the second as Timothy Liljegren blasted home a power play tally with a rocket from the point. And even when the Kings managed to get one back in the third—courtesy of Shayne Gostisbehere—Nashville responded instantly with goals from Craig Smith and veteran leader Kyle Okposo, who finished the night with a goal and an assist.
Jake Oettinger was calm and collected between the pipes, stopping 15 of 16 shots in a rock-solid performance. The Kings only managed 16 shots all night—a testament to Nashville’s suffocating defense and puck control.
The stars of the night sparkled:
It was a full-team effort with contributions from all over the lineup, and Nashville’s bench looked like a party with every horn-blaring goal.
The Predators now head home riding high after this emphatic win, while Kings fans—despite the loss—got to witness a showcase of what hockey looks like when it’s firing on all joyful cylinders.
Final Score:
What a night for Smashville on the road!
