Unacceptable behaviour

Post by admin »

Good evening, gentlemen,

I need to address something that’s recently come to my attention. This isn’t a complaint, but I’ve learned that a GM—who was actively contributing to the trade committee—has been driven to step down after receiving a flood of text messages accusing him of being “useless” and “doing nothing.”

Frankly, I find this behaviour appalling. We removed the anonymity from trade reviews in good faith, but now people are resorting to sending insults through SMS instead. This kind of behaviour isn’t just unwelcome; it’s harmful.

If you’ve sent such messages, I urge you to apologize and, frankly, reconsider whether you should have access to people’s phone numbers at all.

To be perfectly transparent, actions like these make me question whether we should even continue the league. For 21 years, the RSHL has run as a free resource for GMs, built on respect and sportsmanship. If you feel the need to harass others, it makes me wonder: why are you here?

We need to all work together to get these individuals rained in so thanks for posting this. I’ve been on the trade committee for the past 16 months and if anyone has a problem let’s please discuss it together instead of ganging up on people. This harassment needs to stop.
Thanks

I think we are all guilty of saying something in the moment when frustrated. I myself left the committee years ago, and funny enough it was the Rangers GM Dennis was the reason I left.
So…. We are all guilty I think, just gotta try to not let things bug you so much.

I shouldn’t have walked away from committee then… and I feel for whomever wants to/ has walked away now… but completely understand.

Hopefully we can reach some sort of idea….

Just spit balling, but what if the entire committee was anonymous? So that GMs who have their deals rejected for whatever reason, don’t have the ability to know exactly who is the one saying ❌?
Again, just an idea to get a conversation going.

The trade committee was always anonymous until there was a demand as to who was involved with the horrible job being handled.

Further to your idea, the actual votes are never known to anyone but me, and I have no intention of changing that, either.

Isn't there a code of conduct in the rules for behavior like this? I'm only asking because I thought I had read something in the rules regarding this kind of thing.
