In a nail-biting showdown at Hartford, the Nordiques managed to secure a 5-4 victory over the RSHL Whalers. Despite blowing a 4-1 lead, the Nordiques pulled off the win thanks to a late marker from Sean Monahan. The game saw Simeon Varlamov pulled from the net and MacKenzie Weegar sidelined due to a dirty hit from Georgii Merkulov, who was subsequently ejected. Weegar is set to miss a number of games with Vincent Desharnais set to draw into the lineup.
Miro Heiskanen scored his first goal of the season, adding to his impressive tally of 12 assists.
First Period: The Nordiques came out strong with Sean Kuraly scoring just 28 seconds into the game, assisted by Jan Rutta and Sean Monahan. Ryan Lindgren added another goal at 8:58, with assists from Jack McBain and Yegor Chinakhov. The period was marred by penalties, with Radko Gudas of the Whalers racking up multiple infractions.
Second Period: The Whalers fought back with Artturi Lehkonen scoring at 6:33, but the Nordiques quickly responded with Jack McBain's goal at 7:16. Sean Kuraly netted his second of the night on a shorthanded effort at 8:23. The Whalers' Tage Thompson scored twice, once at 13:32 and again on the power play at 15:10, closing the gap to 4-3.
Third Period: Miro Heiskanen tied the game for the Whalers with a power-play goal at 14:13. However, Sean Monahan's late goal at 17:58, assisted by Patrick Maroon and Jan Rutta, sealed the victory for the Nordiques. The period saw more penalties, including a game misconduct for Georgii Merkulov.
