Bos(AP) - Before the trade to bring in veteran star Sidney Crosby, Boston were having a very mediocre month. The Bruins were 7-6-1-1 before the arrival of Crosby and were about to embark on a nine games in nine days crusade. The timing couldn't have been more welcomed as the Bruins would go 7-2 for the rest of the month. Crosby has been a breath of fresh air and has made an impact on his fellow teammates and coaches. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck just missed out on the Player of the Week Award but looks to have found his game. He went 7-2 with a .940 sv% and also earned three shutouts in the process. Defensemen Roman Josi and John Carlson have nothing but praise for Crosby who may not be as prolific a scorer as he once was but is still able to impact the game. It's no coincidence that the veteran pair of defensemen have picked up their scoring of late.
With an impending matchup against the red hot San Jose Sharks on Monday the Bruins are feeling a lot better about themselves entering the contest. The focus now for Boston is to somehow catch Tampa Bay who are on quite a roll themselves and are currently three points ahead of the Bruins. Unfortunately for Boston is that they will be without the services of winger Logan O'Connor who suffered a chest injury and will miss up to three months. His energy will be missed but Mathieu Joseph has been called up from the farm to help ease the loss. It's going to be an exciting three weeks to close out the season and hopefully the Bruins fans will have more to cheer about come playoff time.
