Lightning In Control

The Tampa Bay Lightning are firmly in control of the Statsny and are currently sitting at 2nd in the eastern conference. Despite a 2 game skid and some middling play this month from the team that is dealing with some injuries with TJ Oshie off the roster. Word on the street is that there is help on the way for the Bolts who are looking to bring in some forward help to the roster for this year. As the trade deadline approaches the Lightning like to get their moves out of the way early to avoid the last minute negotiations that can be laced with regret down the line. “If it’s the right move we’ll make it” GM Palmer was quoted as saying. "We’ve got some things to work on and improve to get even better. Doing really well from the defense and goal tending but could really use some more scoring consistency. Adding scoring is always one of the harder resources to acquire in the RSHL so when opportunity knocks and the price is right you gotta take it!"
How badly do the lightning need scoring? They are currently 2nd to last in power play efficiency. This is luckily off set by being 2nd on the penalty kill. If the bolts can pick up their power play there can be even more improvement for the team. Luckily the team is top 20 in goals for thanks to some even strength prowess while operating at 2nd in the league on goals allowed. The lightning might also be in the market for some 3rd and 4th line depth that can free Skinner from 3rd line duties and get him in the mix on the 2nd line.
