Season 18 Hart trophy

In the RSHL this year we saw some outstanding performances by different players who helped to propel their team into contention or to the top of the league. Let's take a quick look at the nominees.

First you have Mackenzie Blackwood. While some may be surprised to see him here, I think it is fair to say that without him, the Devils do not make the playoffs. He had a huge impact on his team and helped to get them into the playoffs.

The next 3 players took their team from playoff teams, to top of the league teams.

Connor McDavid, David Pasternak and Corey Crawford.

McDavid was McDavid. Quite simply the best player leading the league in points.

David Pasternak. It seemed like he could score a goal like Chuck Norris can do, well anything. They say that Chuck Norris doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants. Well could we say the same for Pasternak with the puck? The puck is so scared of Pasternaks stick it just jumps into the net from anywhere? Guy had 65 goals. Insane.

Finally, Crawford. When he came over to the Isles, they were a team that was on the cusp of blowing up the roster and doing a retooling. In a final attempt to save the season they traded for Crawford and boy did he make a difference and look how far they have gone.

4 great nominees, but only 1 winner.

This year's Hart Trophy goes to Connor McDavid. When we asked McDavid to comment, he was very humbled when he was informed of his Hart Trophy win. His line mate Tom Wilson heard us talking and was not surprised. Wilson said " This is obvious, he is the best player in the league, other guys can have big seasons or career years but Connor is just Connor. Nobody comes close."
